NEGLECTING YOUR MENTAL HEALTH OR NEGATIVE COPING

If a person does not seek professional help when needed, one is at risk of a downward spiral of negatively coping.  Due to the increasing levels of pain or confusion a person is experiencing, it may feel easier to:

  • Hide/isolate

  • Remain deeply sad and cry often

  • Worry often because it keeps one busy

  • Deny it exists 

  • Pretend everything is fine on "The outside"

  • Increase alcohol or drug intake

  • Develop an addiction to placate the pain

  • Act out or be abusive

NOURISHING YOUR MENTAL HEALTH OR POSITIVE COPING

You have tried or taken action to positively cope.  You are exercising, doing yoga and meditation, attending church or spiritual practice, trying to eat more healthy and get better sleep, doing hobbies, fulfilling your bucket list, ect.  Yet, there is still an:

  • Empty/void inside

  • Nothing feels as joyful as it used to

  • Bouts of anger/irritability

  • Sadness that won’t fully resolve

  • Excessive worry or crying

  • Constant Guilt

  • Fatigue or insomnia

  • Eating issues (Under eating or over eating)

  • A constant unnerving feeling that doesn’t go away

  • A physical illness that is not getting better 

  • Feeling confused about the meaning of life
